Five good things for your Friday

Happy Friday!

The world is definitely a better place when we commit beautiful, creative acts. It doesn’t have to be painting a masterpiece or composing a sonnet: creative ways of helping others, of building your business, or of sharing ideas all contribute to a juicier world.

I was pretty chuffed at the response to my last newsletter & am frankly swamped for the next few weeks, so instead of offering you sweet deals or tooting my own horn I’m going to give you a list of  five beautiful, creative things that got my juices flowing this week.

1. I prefer the phrase “Creative Ecosystem” to ‘open pit mine’ or ‘clearcut’.  {Vancouver has officially swapped logging & mining for tech }

2. Powerful words from Jess Housty, a community councillor up on the central coast of BC who is taking to the courts to keep Big Oil off of the coast: On behalf of Heiltsuk, I’d like to say we’re ready for our day in court. We’ve been ready for ten thousand years.”

3. My favourite angry young man/balladeer Hawksley Workman announces a show on MAYNE ISLAND!!! on HALLOWEEN!!

4. I’ve reached 25% of my goal with my little Indiegogo fundraiser. I’m offering my Attuned Moon Cycle Deck here, to help get my yoga-loving ass down to Nicaragua for some mid-winter hot bendies.

5. Oh, the dryness: listen to this wonderful interview with Margaret Atwood. Atwood is so revered and feared that most arts-oriented interviewers either fall to their knees or tremble in terror before her. Here the great Jessie Brown from Canadaland has a totally candid chat with Peggy about censorship, why writing is a ‘sucky life’ and how Twitter users are like pigeons.

Here’s to a creative, juicy weekend!
