For the longest time my business was called Ampersand Communications. About 4 years ago I switched it up and went with my name, AndreaPalframan.com, ‘coz I ditched the line of products I was hawking to focus more on consulting & writing. But I still have a soft spot for the swingy, loopy ampersand symbol: this short tribute to the & from the New Yorker’s Comma Queen tells you why.
Just when you thought A-Z had you covered, along comes “&”. The ampersand – an actual letter, yo’ – is a pretty good symbol for what I am all about. I too am a multitasking, polymorphic, curve-loving, controversy-courting character. Want to get down & dirty in the sweet spot where talk & action tangle? Get in touch if you have a project that needs a bit of “je ne sais &”.
In Salish Sea news…
Fancy a boat trip to visit the island next door? Since BC Ferries makes it nearly impossible to travel to visit friends on neighbouring Gulf Islands, last summer a pirate-y band of organizers launched the “The Tour des Isles“. Over a weekend, mariners in a flotilla of small boats will take crowds of visitors from island to island, where they can sample local music, sip cocktails, scarf seasonal dishes and swap stories. This year Tour des Isles is happening June 24-26th: mark your calendars!
Also: some nifty Earth Day celebrations are happening here, here, and here. The theme is Trees for the Earth. Best time to plant a tree? 10 years ago. Second best time? Today.
It’s been a super fun, super-full week. Tall piles are now small piles, I got all bendy with a bunch of teenaged circus performers, Sacramento’s Yoga Day is lookin’ freaking fabulous, and the mighty Krista Thornhill launched her Breathwork series. But the best thing that happened was the escape of Inky:
Don’t believe the Site-C dam hype. Do drop by my $7 yoga class on Wednesday from 8-9 a.m.…. warm (not hot)… please pre-register here. This month is Moksha Yoga’s Grow Your Yoga “30 day yoga challenge”. Together with a motley crew of yogis I am fundraising to support RAVEN Trust, whose legal fundraising campaign to stop Site-C is our best chance at getting this project scrapped. You can donate here.
Peace, love, & happiness,
xo
