In spring 2014, community groups in Smithers and Terrace got together to raise money to support First Nation legal challenges against Enbridge. These communities know firsthand what was at stake, and the power of standing together with First Nations. Now they’ve challenged the rest of us to step up! Northern groups approached Sierra Club BC and RAVEN Trust for assistance, and the result is the Pull Together campaign. It’s a tangible way individuals, communities and businesses can provide financial support to First Nations and moral support to everyone on the front lines against Enbridge.
Incredibly, in a few short months the people of Canada raised over $350,000 to support First Nations. A powerful sign that the movement to support indigenous, frontlines communities in their struggles against Big Oil is growing stronger.
